The Animal Shed

My current shed replaced my old wendy house that they were previously kept in Late Summer of 2009- something that made me very, very happy. I had been keeping my cavies in indoor cages, but with the new shed, came the desire to make it into a proper 'animal shed.' I bought a three-tier stack of hutches from the Happy Hutch Company, with all mesh fronts to keep them light and airy.
On top at the moment is a spare cage in case of illness, along with the bird food and a watering can! The cage will be moving soon to an outdoor storage container so leaves me room on top...to perhaps place another pen. I am also thinking about creating an L-shaped run from the top pen, to make the pen bigger for the girlies by removing the left-hand door.

I really needed some sort of workspace in the shed, where I could prepare foods and also groom the guinea pigs so I purchased a grooming table from 'Rons Runs' which is super and very useful. I recommend them if you are in need of a grooming table like the one in the picture. It's wonderful.

I also have a shelving unit which keeps all the 'special' hays on as well as having my Hamster, with the original name of Hammy living in his home on there. The shelves are also useful for storage. I also have a shelf which has my music player on- perfect for when I'm cleaning out and the animals can then chomp away to the sound of Classic.fm!

Electricity in the shed is an absolute lifesaver, particularly in the Winter so I can actually see what I'm doing when cleaning out, but it's nicer for the animals in the Winter too as they aren't out as much. They are even going to get some 'mood' lighting- a lamp that can be on sometimes instead of the harsher light (apparently!).
I have a four-tier draw unit used for Treats, Hamster Food, Rabbit Food and Guinea Pig food (appropriately labelled for my mum, if I'm away for a weekend with cadets!) throw in a guinea pig calendar and a 'noticeboard' and it's my lovely shed! Although it could be bigger...

Where the shelves are in the pictures below, I am thinking of cutting them down level with the top of the food drawers, to install two more pens for guinea pigs with dividers so it could be four pens. Summer work I think...
